CEO to Leave Domainz
Mr Derek Locke, the CEO of Domainz will shortly leave the company to pursue other opportunities.
Mr Locke has been CEO of the country’s largest domain name registrar for two years. During that time, Domainz moved from being the .nz domain name registry, through to becoming the stabilising registrar when the .nz domain name market was opened to competition in October 2002. Most recently, Mr Locke has overseen the sale of the Domainz business to Australian based domain name registrar Melbourne IT.
Mr Locke said “I have really enjoyed my time with Domainz, guiding it through the implementation of the SRS, the stabilising registrar contract and latterly the sale of Domainz to Melbourne IT. I wish Domainz all the best for the future.”
The CEO and Managing Director of Melbourne IT, Mr Theo Hnarakis, thanked Mr Locke for his excellent contribution over the past two years in overseeing the transition of the company through the many challenges it faced during the de-regulation of the industry. “Derek departs with our very best wishes for the future. He has contributed greatly to the business during his term as CEO through his professionalism and inclusive management style. A new General Manager for Domainz will be appointed very shortly,” said Mr Hnarakis.
