  4. Why is my .nz domain name locked?
1. How many years can I register/renew my .nz domain name for?

.nz and .com domain names can be registered and renewed for a term between 1 and 10 years. com.au names can only be registered and renewed for 2 years.

2. My .nz domain name is in dispute, how do I get it locked?

Contact the .nz Domain Name Commission. You will need to provide documentation as to why the name is in dispute; your request will then be assessed.

3. Who is the DNC and what do they do?

The DNC is the .nz Domain Name Commission. The DNC is responsible for the daily management of the .nz domain name space. They approve and police Registrars, set policies and deal with high level disputes. Please see http://www.dnc.org.nz for further information.

4. Why is my .nz domain name locked?

If your domain name shows a locked message the Registry has been instructed by a court order or authorised party to freeze any action on a domain name. This may be because there has been some dispute involving the domain name. Once the issue has been resolved the Registry will unlock the domain name. Any enquiries relating to locked names should be addressed to the .nz Domain Name Commission.
