1. About Domainz passwords

All domain name holders have security information for accessing and making changes to their records.

ID's, Passwords & UDAI's

The table below explains the different types of ID's, Passwords and UDAI's and what their functions are.

Type Format Use
UDAI (Unique Domain Authentication Identifier) 8 characters – alphanumeric and case sensitive Needed to change Registrar only *
Nameholder ID & Password 8 characters – alphanumeric and case sensitive Needed to gain access to your Domainz account
FTP Username & Password Username is your domain name. Password is 6 to 10 alphanumeric characters. Needed to upload web content if Domainz hosts your website
Email Username & Password Username is your email address. Password is 6 to 10 alphanumeric characters. Needed to access your email through either an email client or the Domainz Webmail interface

To help remember your passwords and what they do we recommend printing a copy of the Password User Guide.

2. I've forgotten or lost my UDAI - what should I do?

If you've forgotten your UDAI or need it changed, you can contact either Domainz or your Approved Domainz Provider/Reseller who will arrange to have it reset for you.

3. What are the differences between the Name Holder ID, Name Holder Password and UDAI?

The Name Holder ID (eight digit number) and Name Holder password relate to the Name Holder/Registrant's account. You may have more than one domain name with the same Name Holder ID; this along with the Name Holder password is the security for your account with Domainz, enabling you to view your transactions online and make basic contact information changes like address or phone number.

The UDAI (eight digit alpha-numeric characters) identifies the individual domain name and is used when a specific change is made to your domain name such as a change in Registrar or Domainz Provider/Reseller.

4. What is a UDAI?

Your UDAI is a Unique Domain Authentication Identifier. The UDAI is specific to each domain name and is required only to change the registrar for your domain name. When you register a new domain name the UDAI will be emailed to you. UDAI's are eight characters long and are made up of numbers and letters in both upper and lower case. UDAI's are case sensitive.

Please Note:

  • Your UDAI is like a Bank PIN and should not be given to anyone lightly
  • Generally, your UDAI should only be provided in the course of transferring management from one registrar to another
  • Your UDAI is NOT required to change name servers, hosting provider
  • If you want to change your hosting provider contact Domainz to recover your Domain Name Holder ID and Password
5. What is the procedure for getting a password and why?

For your security, we will only release passwords at the Name Holder/Registrant's request and it will only be sent to the email address listed on the account.

If the details require updating and the email address is incorrect, please fax us a request on letterhead signed by the Name Holder/Registrant, Senior Manager or Company Director.

6. Why do I need a UDAI?

If you request a change of Registrar you will be required to provide your UDAI for that domain name. Once the transaction has been completed, a new UDAI will be issued for security reasons.
